Jeep is easily the most well-known and widely-loved brand of 4x4 on the market. That’s at least partly because of its classy WWII look and long history in the American love affair with autos. But it’s not all style—the Jeep is also one of the most upgradeable, customizable vehicles on the planet. There is a nearly endless supply of aftermarket Jeep parts, and at Spyder we’ve pulled together the highest-performing options for all of the major Jeep models. If you’re looking to take your Jeep from a showroom piece to a true off-roading beast, Spyder has you covered.
This is Jeep’s third generation Wrangler, the series still being made today. It’s the first Jeep Wrangler to feature four doors—making it all the better for dual on-road/off-road use.
The TJ was made from the mid 90’s to the mid 2000’s. It featured a major aesthetic update from earlier Wranglers and came with coil spring suspension which gave it a much smoother ride than other on/off road vehicles at the time.
This is the original generation of the Wrangler that debuted in 1986. It took a lot of inspiration from the earlier Jeep CJ but with wider leaf springs and standard track bars and sway bars for a better ride on and off-road.
This is what most of us think of when we hear the word Jeep. In production for an incredible 42 years, the CJ started as a civilian model of the original WWII Willys Jeep. It remains a popular and highly effective off-road build today.
WJ Grand Cherokee
This second generation Grand Cherokee rolled out in 1999 with more horsepower, better gas mileage, a lighter engine and a whole new design from its predecessor. It became a leader in the SUV world and remains a great multipurpose 4x4 today.
ZJ Grand Cherokee
Originally planned as a larger, more luxurious version of the XJ Cherokee, the ZJ was the first Grand Cherokee model and ruled through the 90s. Owners loved it because it did triple duty: work vehicle, family vehicle, and weekend off-roader in one—and it’s easily transformed into a real all-terrain monster.
The XJ or Cherokee was Jeep’s first foray into making a 4x4 sport utility vehicle, and is the precursor of most modern SUVs.
